Missing my Hometown

After visiting a site tonight I miss my hometown once again. Here is what is going on at the moment. Once a month we have what is called First Sunday / First Monday Trade Day. I remember always being drug uptown or downtown as we call it. I would love to be drug now to it. Anytime I am back home I make a point to go. Labor Day is one of the largest.
I spotted my Aunt Lottie in a picture. Not hard to spot her. ......."Quilts and Crafts" lady.

Go take a look at some of my hometown HERE & HERE & HERE ALSO.

Take a look at a bit of the history of how it started.

Meet the new Mayor, my cousin, Mayor Elect Melton Potter.

My Brother-in-law

My brother-in-law is Director of Missions for Sand Mountain Baptist Association & sent me this link to the update of rebuilding. We are all very proud of him.
Ignore the Marshall County thing, the woman didn't know if she was in Jackson or Marshall County. She is in Jackson County! They also took out every refence to Jesus they could possible do. Here is what my BIL sent me.

"1. They again edited out all my references to Christ, faith, the Lord, and Christians.
2. I shared something from the story of the Good Samaritan and they only used the last part, which didn’t make sense without the whole story. Here’s what I shared – “There are four characters in the story of the Good Samaritan. One had the attitude, ‘What’s yours is mine, I’ll take it.’ Two had the attitude, ‘What’s mine is mine, I’ll keep it.’ The Good Samaritan had the attitude, ‘What’s mine is yours, I’ll give it’.” And then what you see on the video – “The community, the churches, they’ve had the attitude “What’s ours is yours, we’ll give it….”
3. The story was titled “Marshall County…” instead of “Jackson County…”

Oh well."

The big "R"

Well we all come to a time in our lives we start thinking the big "R". Retirement. We have in the last few years leased all our vehicles. Well now in our 40's we are thinking long term vehicles. If you can say long term. We want something we can get paid off quick but still be worth driving after. Well no cute-little-sporty-great-gas-mileage car for us. Gas prices just seem to go back & forth but for now we will try this. Jeff had been looking for days on end. I still had my heart set on an SUV because of the convenience of it having two growing boys. My Dodge Durango lease was up last September & now the Ford Explorer truck is up this month. I had wanted a 3rd row seating. Of all places Jeff checks e-Bay & finds several that fit what we wanted. A couple did not work out but found this one in Texas. He & Chris (our 10 year old flew to Dallas Texas Friday night, sealed the deal Saturday morning & drove the Denali home by Saturday night. Fully loaded with all the bells & whistles. Not to bad for a 2006 model. Now we have to look for that cute-little-sporty-great-gas-mileage car to save on what this monster will soak up.

Chris really enjoyed flying with his dad. His 3rd trip on an airplane. Jeff travels alot so once they made it to the airport in Memphis he upgraded to First Class & Chris thought that was just the best. Well if this is a blessed life then I guess we have it. We have worked so hard for the things we have in life but sometimes just the simple things in life like sitting in First Class is all you need.

Well off to bed I hope I go. I just finished stuffing envelopes that were invites to a family reunion back home. So much sadness this past year but now a time to come together & see family that you may never get the chance to see again. You never know in life.

Quote added

I added a little quote to this photo. I have always loved this little saying I heard years ago.

Letter from a friend

I received this from a friend on mine today.

Hello all my dear friends I do hope you will repost this to all your loved ones.
As many of you know a week ago today I lost two very special people, my 5 yr old great niece and 20 yr old step-daughter due to a 4 wheeler accident. No one knows what happened other than she lost control of the vehicle. Wearing a helmet may have saved the 20 yr olds life but the 5 yr old was cut in half.
Today just a week to the day later I got a call from a church member that there will be no church due to one of the members 14 yr old son some how lost control of his 4 wheeler and is being transported to the hospital. While we still don't know the extent of his injuries luckily he was wearing a helmet. His name is Alex if you could keep him on your prayer list.
He is a very experienced driver of 4 wheelers & been doing it since he was little.
Please if you own a 4 wheeler make sure you use all precautions. Don't put small children on it. I seen a lady on my way home today driving a 4 wheeler with a child who didn't even look 3 sitting in the front.
Remember life is short. Don't make it shorter then it has to be.
Love your friend,
Michelle Webb

Storms moving through Tupelo

The cloud that lingered after the heavy rain passed through.

Got a nice light show from it.

The show that followed.
