Another Great weekend!

I had another great weekend. It was fun, sad, needed, & hectic. I volunteered at the Animal Shelter this past Friday & Saturday all day helping with a yard sale. The shelter takes donated items to be used for yard sales. We took in a bit of money but not what we needed. It is so sad to say but we wouldn't get the money needed even if we sold every single item we have/had. The shelter has been having fund raisers to try & get a new shelter built. They are doing really great now since getting a new director for the shelter but having a larger place would help tremendously.
This is my fantasy-----A kazillionaire will read this post & find the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society & write a big FAT check to built the shelter of the director's dream.
Fantasy over.
A bit of money was raised to add to the fund but they are a long way away from the goal. Most people think shelters are just for taking in unwanted & stray pets but they are also in the business of adoptions. If you ever think of adopting please try your local shelter first. It just breaks my heart to walk through to the cage areas. The sad barks just begging for homes.
When we were locking up we checked the 2 pregnant cats & one was delivering while we were there. New baby life making an appearance. Can't wait to get an update tomorrow to see how she did. The sad part is mom & babies do really bad in a shelter. Don't get me wrong they are taken really good care of but having a home & family is so different for them. Before the door was locked someone drove up to drop off a kitten in the cage outside. It couldn't have been but a couple of weeks old. They said the mother cat just left it behind in their yard & they couldn't keep it. The director took it inside to see if another of the mother cats would accept it. It just cried & cried because it was so hungry. Before we left the mother was letting it try & latch on. I hope it got fed. She had 4 kittens already near the same age. Poor little hungry baby.
Get that image in your mind when you refuse to spay or neuter.

New Patch

Emergency Room

The other day, I needed to go to the emergency room.
Not wanting to sit there for four hours, I put on my old Army fatigues and stuck on a patch that I had downloaded off the Internet onto the front of my shirt.
When I went into the E.R., I noticed that 3/4 of the people got up and left. I guess they decided that they weren't that sick after all.
Here's the patch. Feel free to use it the next time you're in need of quicker Emergency service.

Go team Go!

Chris had his first baseball game Tuesday. We have some really good hitters on the team. We did win! Chris does great in practice but once a game comes up he freezes at the plate. Should I share that with you? We cheered him on all the way though. It always takes a game or two to get over that nervous feeling. We hope to have a really good year. I was over talking at the side one day at practice & seen the group of boys huddled together tight. The coach had them in a prayer group. I love to have the coach prayer for the boys. That is a real coach.

Matthew starts T-ball games soon. They start later than regular baseball. He just can't wait. They are so fun to watch play. Score is not kept. That makes it all the better. They are just learning. At practice they sort of just run all over the field. This is Matthew's 2nd year of T-ball. If you need a good laugh...watch a T-ball game!

I had Wednesday night kindergarden mission's class last night at church. I love coming up with crafts for the kids. We worked on Mother's day cards. If you are one of my mom's "Do not read this or look at the picture". I had found a craft on an internet site I go to alot. You use your thumb to make thumb print cards. "Thumbbody says, Thumbody loves you & that Thumbody is me! Inie is a thumb print flower & butterfly. So cute! They have colored bookmarks that I will laminate at church & enclose in the card. Only 4 more Wednesday's left. The M&M's year is about over. (M & M stands for Music & Mission's)

My neice is getting ready to graduate high school next month. Boy where did the time go? Her mail labels came in & guess what? They had moved & the address was WRONG for mailing. I got her some cute one's made up & got them in the mail yesterday. All is well in the graduation world today. Graduation will be special. She will receive her diploma with a National Honor Society sash around her neck. She has the world at her feet, the brains to be anything she wants & the choose of any college that tries to get her.

Well I need to get ready & go. The Humane Society here in town is having a yard sale Friday & Saturday & I need to go see what help they need.

What a weekend!

T.G.I.M.-Thank God it's Monday!

Friday was my date night. My church offers one night a month to watch the kids for a small fee while the parents have dinner & a movie or do what they choose. We really look forward to it each month. Both the boys should have had a skate party to go to after school but Chris' school bus was running late. 40 minutes late. It rained ALOT here Friday. I figured she had took the long route & was dropping kids off at the door. Then I got that funny feeling you get & thought something was wrong. I called the bus garage & ask if they knew the location of the bus. I was asked "Are you one of the parents?" gulp, heart starts to pound! Seems like a whole minute went by. Then in a split second she said everything was fine. Someone had side swiped the bus. That didn't seem too minor. The bus was being cleared & should leave from it's location any minute. Within 15 minutes the bus dropped my precious cargo off. The party plans were now off. We talked & decided to skip the party & take them later. Maybe over the weekend. Matthew had gotten new skates to try so he was a bit disappointed. Maybe they will forget & we won't have to fit that in! Yeah, right!
Saturday was baseball practice for Chris. This years team seems to be pretty good. Really good hitters. Came home to do chores but hubby took off fishing at our lake. Rat. I pulled a few weeds but I am still taking it easy. I did jump on the mower & go around the yard. Chris tried to see if he could touch the peddles this year. Almost. Maybe by the end of the summer. I worked outside until it got about dark on me. The boys had rode their bikes to the neighbors a couple of houses over. I yelled & yelled for them to come home. No answer. I rode my bike over there. Jeff had took off in the truck with my keys in the glove box. I either had to walk or ride or a bike. You know they make those seats smaller & smaller now on those things! I pulled up to the neighbors house to ask if they had seen them. Answer: NO. OMG Where are they? I rode up the road to another neighbors house, they were not there. I seen a couple out walking & ask if they had seen 2 boys on bikes. They had seen them the other direction (our subdivision makes a circle). I rode that way & seen Chris walking back by himself toward the house. Where is Matthew? It hit me at that point. Construction was going on in an empty lot. They had both rode their bikes into it & was buried up in mud. Chris had finally given up & was walking back for help. Relief came over me but anger got the best of me. If only they knew the dangers of strangers. Notice no smile on their faces. They couldn't see the grin I was trying to hide. We all laughed later. Their defense----They were told to get outside & play.

After a long soak in the tub I believe the boys are back to being clean for now.

Sunday. The day of rest. We got ready for church & went. After church the boys were still holding us to SKATING. Can we go, Can we go, Can we go? Well, eat lunch & went. That was about the longest 2 and a half hours in all my afternoons. I had woke up with my back hurting from pulling weeds the day before & having a few chest pains from my current stuff. The boys come first. After we got home we tried to finish a couple of projects. I drug the tent out of the attic & glued some Boy Scouts patches on for camping that is coming up soon. Jeff finally took our screen door off the play room door to the outside & cut the side down to finally fit the opening. Of course it didn't go as easy as it should have. Does anything go easy?

Well Monday is here take a breath & start the week. Tonight is scouts. Laundry is piled up. Dishes as well. Baseball practice later. Did I eat yet? Have I gone to the potty?

Being loved

I think one of the most important things in life is to be loved. Everyone wants to be. Everyone needs to be. When we are shown in some small ways & some large ways we feel better. It is just our nature.

"A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart." ~Author Unknown

My mother has a very good friend that lives in Kentucky. "Judy". I got the chance to take my mother back in January before the weather turned for the bad there. Since then they have been snowed in several times. We had a great visit. We were given the royal treatment, home cooked meals, visiting a dairy farm (I have a new respect for my milk now), touring the town & great friends to be with. They even live in one of my favorite spots.....the country. Beautiful area. In Judy's spare time that she catches here & there she was making my mother a quilt. I made a comment of how beautiful it was. The next thing I hear is she is making me one. Well....it came in mail yesterday. It is absolutly gorgous. It is all hand made. I love country items. I should have been raised in the pioneer days. OH NO on second thought I don't believe they had internet connection. Well you can take the girl out the country but you can't take the country out of the girl.

I wanted to attach a couple of pics of my quilt & the dairy farm but blogger is having some problems right now. Maybe tomorrow.

***********UPDATE----Got them to load***********

Note to Judy----Mom thinks the world of you & she loves you so much. Thank you for making me feel loved. You have a sweet spirit & are a joy to the Lord. I love you. Katrina

Totally flipped my lid...

"Work like you don't need the money,
love like you've never been hurt,
and dance like you do when nobody's watching."

I have had way tooooo much rest. I have totally flipped my lid. One of the songs playing on my list at the bottom of this page is "I Can Hear Music" by Kathy Troccoli. I got up, starting spinning & dancing & noticed my blind is wide open in my front office at home. Well the neighborhood show is now over. Thank you, Thank you very much for coming! See 'ya next show!

Listen to the song & see what you do. Please tell me it is just not me that does this!

The answer to the Christian Cross puzzle!

I told you it could be done! Did you ever figure it out? Look for the puzzle from my Friday, April 4th posting.

Grounded

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths. ~Etty Hillesum

That word (grounded) should not be in an adults vocabulary for themselves.

I have gotten a few days behind on my blog. A week ago yesterday I went up to our land to clear some briars. Nothing out of the ordinary. It was a beautiful day. I had been there for a few minutes & while swinging the swing blade I felt something funny in my chest. I sat down for a bit to drink my refresher drink (Mtn Dew). I know.... not very healthy. I got back up but still felt really weird. I got my cell phone out of the chair & put it in my back pocket in case I dropped to the ground & did not pass out I could at least call someone for help. Well a few minutes passed & I still was hurting in my chest. I was having a hard time breathing & catching my breath. Could it be a heart attack? Could it be a pec muscle pulled. The only thought I was having was "Please Lord don't let me pass out by the water. You know I hate snakes & I don't want to be their lunch." Well I didn't pass out but I loaded what I could back in my little wagon, left some stuff behind, headed for the truck & came home. I took a shower & sit down to relax except I couldn't. Well I am not a person that runs to the doctor but the next morning (last Wednesday) I had an appointment. You knew I was feeling bad because I missed my bible study class at church. (Stepping Up - by Beth Moore) My doctor did a full exam, listened to my heart, took my temp, took my blood pressure, did chest x-rays & etc. Things were normal. As normal as they can be for me. I had "Chest Trauma". (More info at the bottom) He had some fancy smancy word for it but I forget. All I was hearing was I over did it the last few days & just slow down for a few weeks. Well that was going to make my mother happy. She tells me that all the time. Well have I slowed down........well a bit. I haven't been swinging a swing blade since last week. My ladies softball team played last night & I wasn't there. I figured the throwing & batting would be a set back. See...I do listen to my doctor & husband. My house is a wreck but it will still be a wreck in a few days for me then. I have taken it easy. Really.

The boys have started practice for T-ball & baseball & I have been driving them to the practices. Cub scouts is winding down for the school year but the summer stuff for scouts is starting. I am now an official Tiger Cub Leader. My paper work went in Monday at the meeting.

Only 6 more times to meet for Wednesday night Kindergarten Missions class. Then we have a summer break for class. While I am typing this I am trying to finish an idea in my head for the craft tonight for missions class. It will be a card for Mother's day. We are using thumb prints to use as "Thumbody Loves you" "Me that's who". Should be fun. 5 & 6 year old with inked finger prints in class to get all over the place. :-O I need to finish the paper work to get in for Chris to go to christian summer camp in June for his 3rd time. Matthew's spring pictures came in from school. I need to get that order form filled out & get in. I have to take one of my dogs to the vet today for her yearly shots. Get back home in time for my youngest to get off the school bus. Boy... I am sure glad today is not a real busy day. I should be at bible study now but I really need to get my craft ready for tonight. I hate missing but remember, I am taking it easy. If I keep repeating that to myself I may can do it.

Recent Chest Trauma
Cause of pain
:Chest trauma of any type can cause chest pain by causing rib fracture or muscle strain or contusion. Not infrequently, seemingly mild chest trauma (sliding into second base during a weekend softball game) can be forgotten when the chest pain becomes apparent a day or two later.
Characteristics of pain:Chest pain caused by trauma is almost invariably localized, is often described as a soreness or a sharp pain. It usually worsens with breathing, and often the chest wall is tender to touch or to pressure.
Evaluation:Chest pain caused by trauma usually becomes quite apparent after the doctor takes a complete medical history, and performs a physical examination. Sometimes a chest x-ray helps in making the diagnosis.

WHY PARENTS GO OFF THE DEEP END....

The boss wondered why one of his most valued employees had not shown up for work and not phoned in sick one day. Having an urgent problem with one of the main computers, he dialed the employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's whisper.
"Hello? "
"Is your daddy home?" he asked.
" Yes ," whispered the small voice.
May I talk with him?"
The child whispered, " No ."
Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked,
"Is your Mommy there?"
"Yes."
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered,
"No ."
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, "Is anybody else there?"
" Yes ," whispered the child, " a policeman.
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked,
"May I speak with the policeman?"
" No, he's busy ", whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?"
" Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman ," came the whispered answer.
Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, "What is that noise?"
" A helicopter " answered the whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.
Again, whispering, the child answered, " The search team just landed a helicopter ."
Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked,
"What are they searching for?"

Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle......" ME ."

53 died - 55 came in - Throw away pets

Here is a letter that a friend wrote. I am so sad that people let this happen. This is something that should make every single person think before they refuse to have their pet spayed or neutered. Please do your part to help.

What can I do to help reduce companion animal overpopulation? Get your animal spayed or neutered. Yes, even the males. After all, it takes two to tango.

"I think this is the worst day I have had in a long time. It started with pulling up at work looking at 12 pups that were dumped sometime in the middle of the night as if that wasn't bad enough I walked around the corner found 10 pups crammed in cages and 2 adult dogs. I shook my head went on in being off the past two days not knowing what all was inside what was inside was just as depressing 173 puppies and cats. Walking round and round in circles looking for just one cage to put all those outside in. Not a single cage open, dogs crammed in carriers (pet taxi's) geeze We are only able to really house 90 cats and dogs and have all these in pet taxis so unfair. I walk in circles more and more looking at each of the animals. Who will live, who will die. I think to myself, hmmm a whole litter of black pups and another litter of black pups. Oh great that one is part pit, Can't adopt that one out. By 12pm I have picked 53 puppies that had to die. Finally got some cages to move the ones outside in. People started bringing in animals left & right. By 4:30 we brought in the 55th animal for the day. 53 died and 55 came in. It's a circle that never ends. Tonight when I go to lay down and sleep I get to not think of what tomorrow holds but instead I will be thinking which ones will have to die tomorrow. Sorry for venting I'm just so disgusted at people."

Animal overpopulation statistics from the Humane Society of the United States
Number of cats and dogs entering shelters each year: 6-8 million (HSUS estimate)
Number of cats and dogs euthanized by shelters each year: 4-5 million (HSUS estimate)
Average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in one year: 3
Average number of kittens in a feline litter: 4-6
In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats.

The Tea Party

When I was a toddler, someone gave me a little Tea Set as a gift,
and it was one of my favorite toys.
My father was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when
I brought him a little cup of tea, which was just water, of course.
After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea,
my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch
his little Princess bring him a cup of tea, because it was,
"Just the cutest thing!" My Mom waited, and sure enough,
here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy.
She watches him drink it up and then says,
"Did it ever occur to you that the only place that
a toddler can reach to get water is the toilet?"

Little Creatures

Click HERE to Visit My Photos on Flickr

It is always so much fun to walk through the woods & see the creatures or critters as my husband calls them. Sunday after church we went to the land to clear some small trees & briar's on a point by the water that my boys have staked out for their own. Jeff & Chris fished a bit & Matthew & I cleared a little. Right before Jeff joined me again on land I happened upon something on the ground just walking around. At first it startled me but then something else caught my eye. It wasn't that scared of me. I thought maybe my swing blade had maybe caught it or I had cut some little tree it was in . I really still don't think so. There is a nest in some briar vines but it looks like an old one. I feed it a crushed snack cracker we had there. (Never go off without bringing snacks for the kids) It was/is a really pretty bird. We came home & looked on Flickr for pictures of one like it. It is a cockatiel. I went back today to take some chairs over there & looked for it again. My plans were to bring it home for a pet. In the wild there or in the wild of my home. Same difference, better food here. I have plans to go back tomorrow & look while I work. It would fly up to a tree branch & watch me work then back down to the ground & visit. I am guessing it had to have been someones pet.

I hope to have the rest of the briar's & little trees by the water gone tomorrow. While Chris was at scouts tonight Matthew & I went to Harbor Freight Tools that recently opened & bought them both 18" MACHETES . We had been using one to cut the really tough vines & the boys kept fighting over who got to use it. So what does a responsible mother do....go out & buy your 6 & 10 year old one each. This is a tool that will be like the BB gun, 22 rifle & sling shots & etc. You don't let little boys out to play with machete's in the subdivision. Neighbors just don't like that sort of thing. With this though comes responsibility. We are teaching them the right use, even though I caught site of them pretending to be swordsmen Sunday & pretending to cut the others head off. Such a proud moment. ;-( That is a joke. I hate it but they are boys with vivid imaginations.

Have I accomplished anything?

The days pass & I look back & have I gotten anything done? I have my hand in several pots stiring (Is that a southern saying?) I don't do those!)

The boys are great. Both had dentist appointments yesterday. Both had no cavities. Chris had to have a capped molar tooth pulled. It had been loss for a bit & the stubborn thing would not come out. While there the dentist did it for us. Boy that saved alot of whining & complaining around here not to mention what Chris would have done. When I was leaving to get them back to school I told them they would not have to go back for another 6 months now. My 6 year old shouted "Praise the Lord". The funny thing is he really meant that to the Lord.

My Wednesday night church Missions (w/Crafts) class----I have had so much fun taking over the roll this year. I always come up with a good craft I think. I want it to be something that is somewhat useful. You know the kind you usually get. You go to pick up your child from their room & they have made something that as soon as they are in the door it is thrown on the counter & as soon as they are out of the room you bury it deep in the trash so it is NEVER seen again. This past week we worked on a 5 peice puzzle that has to be put in the shape of a cross. Quite difficult. Even grownups have trouble. Our talk was even though life can be puzzleing in the end God has been in each piece of it." The Cross". I have attached a picture you can print it, cut it out & see if you can put it together. I will post the answer in my next post. I promise it is not a joke. It can be done.

The boys now have both of their baseball team assignments. Both coaches seem to be really nice over the phone. Practice starts Saturday. Can't believe the season is upon us. While fitting their games in I also play softball each season for the church league. We all have so much fun.

I got an e-mail a couple of days ago. I have found out what Russian Volunteered is. I believe it has to do with having a gun at your head & being told you will be doing something against your will. Part of it is true for me except the "against your will" part & the gun also. My youngest son will begin in Cub Scouts this summer. He will start as the rank of Tiger Scout. They haven't found a cub leader & have asked if I would be interested in doing it. I beleive I will. Tiger parents have to be present at each meeting so I might as well. I do like leading the younger ones & sharing the things I know. They are just young enough to not know the difference if I am just totally lost. We will be going camping this summer. Thank goodness my Webelo 2 will be sleeping on the ground in tents with his group but my husband & I will have a cabin with the Tigers. Me & the ground just do not go together.

Pray that the Lord will give me an answer if I should do this. I need the brick to the head answer.

Back to my Kindergartener missionaries. We have done several little mission projects this year. We collected food for the Sanctuary Hospice House, change for LeBonheur Childrens Hospital & still collecting Pop Tabs for LeBonheur. Our next project before we finish out our year next month is going to be the Humane Society here in Tupleo. Before you go out to ever buy your next pet please visit a shelter & save a life. The shelters all around are never for profit. They have a really low budget so they have to rely on the public to help. Our kindergarteners are so excited to get to help on this one. They have such giving hearts. We sent home a wish list to the parents & hope to collect alot in the next 7 weeks we have left. http://www.tupelo-leehumane.org/

---I had to throw this in. I am really not much of an April Fool's person. In other words I don't pull any major one's. Well we all got up to start our day & while the boys were eating breakfast I got on my laptop in the office to check my e-mail. I read a friends (C.P.) April Fool. So funny. She got alot of us. Well it hit me to try one. I went back to the breakfast room & told the boys because of the really bad storm weather that school had been delayed a couple of hours. You should have seen the cheers & jumps. How cruel---I had to tell them April Fools. They did not laugh as I did. Now to look back it was cruel (but so fun).

And after all of this we hope to get our house SOLD. Pray for a buyer for us.

9 Words Women Use

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

1. Fine:
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2. Five Minutes:
If she is getting dressed, this means a half hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping her.

3. Nothing:
This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in Fine.

4. Go Ahead:
This is a dare....NOT permission...Don't Do It!!!!

5. Loud Sigh:
This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6. That's Okay:
This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7. Thanks:
A woman is thanking you. Do not question or faint. Just say you're welcome!!!!

8. Whatever:
Is a woman's way of saying @#$% YOU!!!

9. Don't worry about it, I got it:
Another dangerous statement meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking, "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

Copy & send this to the men you know to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.

Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know it's true
